Dude I know how to edit and I don't need you to tell me how. I need for you to learn how to talk on discussion page. Don't start your convo in the same paragraph!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ronjohn (talkcontribs) 05:05, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Nasserism

Greetings. There seems to be a problem over at the Nasserism page. An anonymous IP is attempting to modify a sourced portion of the edit to include unsourced content that is not directly and explictly supported by the reference in question. He has, in particular, injected religion into the discussion by including the terms "political Islam" and "Islamic political organizations" when the reference does not mention these terms at all. I've already explained to the editor that his edit is a violation of Wikipedia's policy against original research, but he doesn't seem to get it and keeps reverting. Could you please have a look? User:Joe1p1p unblock request

User:Joe1p1p is requesting an unblock. You blocked him as a sockpuppet of Octavian History, and yet I don't see any connection. Could you elaborate on his talk page as to the evidence of the sockpuppetry? Thanks! --Jayron32.talk.contribs 05:10, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Left response at User talk:Jayron32. -- Gyrofrog 14:20, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
I believe that was based on Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Johnyajohn, which does indicate multiple sockpuppets of Octavian History. It doesn't, however, indicate that Joe1p1p is a sock; indeed, Voice of All listed the most recent request, which included Joe1p1p, as Red X Unrelated. Is there other evidence, perhaps an SSP page, that might be worth looking at? Thanks. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 12:19, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
All good points, and thank you for the analysis. The rationale wasn't immediately clear, which is why I (and Jayron, I think) asked the question. Again, thanks for the quick response. Best, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 14:31, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
No problem at all. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 14:51, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and thanks for the additional information on Joe1p1p and his connection to the Marilyn Monroe article and Octavian History. I'll keep my eyes open for him to come back again, now that I know what to look for. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 22:54, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Somali people

greeting, re your message. I would be grateful of a second opinion, it is quite a complicated issue i'm not sure how familiar you are with Somali clans Somaliwarrior (talk) 02:17, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Left responses at the respective talk pages of both User:Somaliwarrior and User:Middayexpress who are currently edit warring over Somali people. -- Gyrofrog 02:25, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello,

The situation is not complicated at all, contrary to what Somaliwarrior would have you believe. The fact is, he has inserted a collage of notable Somalis that heavily favors members of the Darod clan. The problem with doing this is that Somalis are clan-obsessed; this, in fact, is the very thing that led to the civil war in Somalia. It's also the reason why the federal government now has a point system of power sharing so that no one clan gains a monopoly over the others. As the page stood, it had 4 Darods (the Mad Mullah, from the Ogaden sub-clan; Abdi Bile, a Dhulbahante; Iman, a Majerteen; and Siad Barre, a Marehan). The only non-Darods in his edit were 1 Isaaq gentleman that I myself had to introduce, and 1 Hawiye. Everyone else was Darod. My collage, on the other hand, represented 2 Darods (the current president of Somalia and Iman), 2 Hawiye, 1 Isaaq, in addition to Ahmed Gurey, the founding father of Somali nationalism and an international Muslim hero. It's a shame the photos had to go, but I think that in the final analysis, that was the only choice left to make. Somaliwarrior went ahead and reverted the page anyway despite your message specifically asking him not to, so it's clear administrative intervention was the only thing that would solve this problem. Middayexpress (talk) 02:42, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Left response at User talk:Middayexpress‎. -- Gyrofrog 02:50, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Sounds reasonable, and thanks for everything. Middayexpress (talk) 02:57, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello again,

Thought you'd like to know that Somaliwarrior is back to engaging in personal attacks, although you specifically asked him not to. He has again baselessly accused me of being from a specific clan and of therefore being fundamentally biased in my edits. I could be Siberian for all he knows! He has also asserted some false information about my edits to mislead other editors. Middayexpress (talk) 16:03, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi Gyrofrog,
There's yet another problem over at the Somali people page. Redheylin has now transformed his routine cheap shots (e.g. Let us not bother whether or not attractiveness is more or less important than clan in a woman, since we have not asked Warrior why he wants Somalis to be famous for having long legs and killing each other) into outright aggression. He is now personally accusing me of all sorts of things including vandalism. It makes precious little sense considering the fact that he was the one who tried to unilaterally insert a photo that he handpicked into the image box despite the fact that that was the very issue which started the whole conflict between Somaliwarrior and I in the first place! What's worse is that I didn't even bite Redheylin's head off for it; I instead politely asked him to refrain from making such major decisions on his own without first discussing it with us and then reaching a consensus.
Please intervene before this thing escalates. Redheylin has been less helpful than he has been aggressive and surly, which is in direct contradiction to the guidelines laid out for editors wishing to provide a third opinion. He has also been blocked in the past for edit-warring, so I'm not sure this is the right person for the job. I've just asked him at this point to quickly and peacefully bow out. I think my suggestion would carry a lot more weight if you requested he do the same or, at the very least, reminded him of just how exactly the third opinion process works. You cannot present a theory with no actual evidence to back it up. In that Sabaean section, you first go about presenting a theory without any credibility and yet at the same time you present evidence that falsifies your own theory. Therefore what is the reason for presenting the theory in the first place. The burden of proof is not on me but on you, but why post a theory you view as incorrect.

Proposed deletion of Mazaher

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mazaher, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free media (Image:TheQuiteAmericannovelpic.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:TheQuiteAmericannovelpic.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. your follow-up comment on Willie Lynch Letter

Not sure how you took my comment, but it seems that you feel that I may NOT believe this letter. That is so far from the truth. Even if the letter is false, it is a clear dipiction of the demise of African people. I actually feel that there are so many things that go into the demise of the AFRICAN community. I feel that every AFRICAN should read this letter and many other sources of AFRICAN history, written by AFRICANS and not by white authors. HIStory is exactly that!! HIS story. His story are stories that have been given and not based on facts because the TRUTH has been hidden. Finally, the truth is beginning to be exposed. Notability of Hunde Dhugassa

I have added a notability tag to an article you have edited, Hunde Dhugassa. The article does not make clear why this young man is notable enough to merit inclusion in an encyclopedia, and I'd like your opinion on the matter. I cannot find any information on Hunde Dhugassa, so I may consider nominating this article for deletion. If you can provide any sources or rationale consistant with WP:BIO as to what makes Hunde Dhugassa notable for inclusion into an encyclopedia, it would be greatly appreciated. Reforming a student union does not appear to satisfy WP:BIO, and either more information is needed, the article needs to be deleted, or the article needs to be merged with the school or student union article, if such exists.
